break & bloom
create for the sake of creating
Hello and welcome to the break & bloom zine! Our mission is to design a space for people to make the art that they want— free from expectations to create for someone other than oneself.
We are so excited to build this space together with you!
The name break & bloom takes inspiration from the Chinese character, 绽, which can mean to break or to bloom. This zine is meant to give creatives a chance to do both, to break into a space of their own and to bloom and flourish there.

We're excited to have you be part of this passion project of ours, and can't wait to see what we create together.
Here's a couple more logistical things before you submit!
All submissions will be considered for placement within our publication and We reserve the right to accept or deny any submissions that we receive.
How my work be sold?
By submitting your work, you consent to its inclusion and sale in any physical or digital versions of the zine. All contributors will be notified when the pre-order form goes live for each issue. Beginning June 2025, all contributors, if accepted, will receive a free physical copy.
Where can you see your work?
A digital version of our zine is and will always be completely free to read online on Issuu. With your permission, your work can also be featured on our social media.
What type of submissions are we looking for?
We appreciate content in its original and truest form. It is recommended that all submissions be exclusive and unpublished work (meaning not published online and/or in print including social media platforms), but not required.
This can come in many forms! Photography, digital art, and poetry are most common. However, if you got something creative that falls outside our submission form capabilities, share it with us anyways! Our inbox and DMs are always open.
Can I submit copyrighted work?
All content that is submitted to break & bloom for online or print must be 100% copyright-free. Contributors must be the original copyright holder and all parties that are involved in the submission including the contributor, models, and featured individuals agree to grant break & bloom to publish your work on our platform(s).
Submission(s) involved in any copyright entanglement stated above will result in an immediate revocation and you will be held responsible for legal consequences under all circumstances regardless of break & bloom's awareness. We do not condone plagiarism of any kind, including, but not limited, works created by generative AI. Not now, or ever.
